Covenant Groups (Click here for more information)
What is a Covenant group? Covenant groups provide opportunities for serious and engaging conversation on a wide variety of topics, from the spiritual to the secular, in a small group setting. Each group meets monthly to discuss a pre-determined topic under guidelines they have established in their “covenant.” For more information, contact Karel Keel at 864.868.7626 or email.Hiking Group 08
The HUULAs (hiking Unitarian Universalist Ladies, 33 women strong) hike twice a month, weather permitting, (though not in the hottest months) and once or twice a year take overnight hiking trips. This April, the HUULAs will be going to Cape Romaine National Wildlife Refuge and Bull Island. Sometime in the fall, the HUULAs will spend a night beneath the stars in the upstate. The HUULAs are about love, camaraderie, exercise, and sharing the great outdoors. Our hikes range from easy to moderate and never precarious. If you're interested, you can sign up on the master HUULA list to receive all communications. Just let Nancy Oppenheimer-Smolen know.
Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)
The
Unitarian Universalist Association
has a membership of about 1,000 congregations serving adults and children
in the United States and Canada. This Association represents the consolidation
in 1961 of two older religious denominations: the Universalists, organized
in 1793, and the Unitarians, organized in 1825.
Beyond the local congregations, the UUA provides area leadership and
consultation, produces pamphlets, devotional material, and the magazine
The Unitarian Universalist World, supports Beacon Press, creates
a religious education curriculum, spurs social action efforts, and implements
programs in overseas and interfaith areas. The Church of the Larger Fellowship,
which provides a ministry to geographically isolated religious liberals,
is also supported by the UUA.
