Going Greener? How About a Road Map?
Green Sanctuary and the Outreach Committee's Grow Your Own Food initiative have been very active over the past 15 months to address ways of living here in our local community more sustainably. It's time to talk about next steps! On Friday evening, August 26th all are invited to join us at the Fellowship Hall from 5:30-8:30 to help us craft a road map UUFC will take in the next 12-18 months to make UUFC more environmentally friendly. While our Congregation has taken many steps to lighten stress on the environment, we can and should be doing more. Going greener is not just the work of the Green Sanctuary....it is a Fellowship-wide effort.
The Road Map to Environmental Justice retreat on Aug. 26th is sponsored by Outreach and the Green Sanctuary committees. Our goals for the evening include how to create a positive, upbeat, hopeful attitude toward environmental action at UUFC, and to select one or two specific church-wide intergenerational action items for fall 2011 and 2012. Watch for flyers about the event. Hope to see you there!
Looking to get involved in your community? Consider representing UUFC at Clemson Area Congregations in Touch (CACIT), an inter-church group that meets 5 times per year to organize and coordinate efforts to address social and environmental justice issues.
