Theologian Karen Armstrong writes that compassion is a universal human connection of both head and heart between self and other. In "12 Steps to a Compassionate Life" she proposes a path to deeper authentic compassion for self and then for others. This class is connected also to the Charter for Compassion project and we will refer to it regularly.

First meet up for nibbles, a movie, and out favorite needle crafts. It is a bring your own drink and a small nibble to share event. We will have popcorn and a movie to put on the tv (something black & white and classic enough not to need a lot of attention).

Eating is essential to life. How we choose to eat is essential to our physical, mental and spiritual health. This class is based on the book "Mindful Eating" by Rev. Alex's Zen teacher Jan Chozen Bays. We will gently explore how to eat food more mindfully and simply over the five weeks of this class.

This powerful event raises money for cancer research and victims, creates cancer awareness and provides support for others within our community.
