Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)
The
Unitarian Universalist Association
has a membership of about 1,000 congregations serving adults and children
in the United States and Canada. This Association represents the consolidation
in 1961 of two older religious denominations: the Universalists, organized
in 1793, and the Unitarians, organized in 1825.
Beyond the local congregations, the UUA provides area leadership and
consultation, produces pamphlets, devotional material, and the magazine
The Unitarian Universalist World, supports Beacon Press, creates
a religious education curriculum, spurs social action efforts, and implements
programs in overseas and interfaith areas. The Church of the Larger Fellowship,
which provides a ministry to geographically isolated religious liberals,
is also supported by the UUA.
